This week, URP Tobago brought a light and delicious treat to the little children of schools in the eastern part of Tobago—Sikiyé figs!
According to a release from the Division of Infrastructure, Quarries and Urban Development (DIQUD) in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), the youngsters were very appreciated of the special gift.
“The proof is in the eating! We’ve planted and harvested…and Sikiye figs will be provided by URP as a supplementary snack within the School Nutrition Programme,” the release stated.
It added: “And what did the little ones have to say? Yummy! Yummy!”
The fruits were harvested from the URP Tobago’s own food gardens.
