The National Water Commission (NWC) is fast-tracking the installation of a temporary pipeline along Mandela Highway to help alleviate the shortage of water in the Corporate Area.    This is being done as work continues on a permanent pipeline which is likely to be completed in July.   NWC Corporate Public Relations Manager Charles Buchanan told RJR News that the temporary pipeline should be completed by the end of  this month.    “What we have initiated is a temporary 12 inch pipeline on the northern side of the highway, which we are putting in place by the end of March to make up for the delays on the southern side where the permanent replacement is expected to be done. It won’t fix the problem in sense that we have lost five from the 18 inch (pipeline) out of operation…but at least it will reduce the severity of the problem we are encountering now,” he said.
