T&T Volleyball Federation (TTVF) president Daymian Stewart has earned another term at the helm of the sport.
On Thursday night, he got the nod from the sport’s membership at the annual general meeting (AGM) and election of officers and afterwards, he told his executive that volunteerism ends now as they were elected to deliver.

Stewart, who admitted to having unfinished matters to take care of, will be supported by a hard-working team that comprises former volleyball standout Nolan Tash as his first vice president and Newton Grant as his second vice president, Kamla Elcock (secretary), Merlin Remy (assistant secretary), Rachel Cottoy (public relation’s officer) and Leroy Pierre as the delegate vice president.
The position of treasurer was deferred as the membership wanted to ensure that the candidate was duly qualified and up to the task (the candidate was not present at the meeting).
Stewart, in his victory speech, called for all hands to be on deck, promising that everyone offering their service will be accepted and used.
The T&T volleyball boss said: «I would like to thank you for this opportunity. It’s very rare one would get a second opportunity to impact the lives of others as given to me. I accept this challenge and I am mindful of the mistakes made in the past, of which I take full responsibility. I have learnt so much in the past four years and I am filled with the burning desire to correct some matters and to push volleyball forward in these difficult times.»
Stewart’s first assignment will be to set up three special-purpose committees to ensure, in the shortest time, that will be: «Full Compliance: Plan for the settlement of our debts in this term 2020-2024 and managing what should be a smooth transition».
Stewart said: «To the membership; we all want change but are we individually willing to change? Members, we will communicate better, we will respond faster, we will account, we will make the hard decisions with consultation, we can’t please everyone, but we must be fair and transparent. The TTVF is not only the board, it is not Daymian Stewart, it’s all of us. Everyone has a voice, everyone has a right
«A vision for the TTVF will be shared in detail with everyone, and every single person will be given an opportunity to comment and contribute towards the final plan. When we start to work it has to be one vision, one mission, one plan, one body, One Volleyball
» I extend my gratitude to Mr Mushtaque Mohammed he should not be seen as a former president but in a higher position as the honorary president for life. Mr Mohammed has the full support of the TTVF board in his international duties as we continue to benefit from his work there.»
Thursday night’s proceedings began with the presentation of the financial statements which was adopted with the condition that the entire outstanding debt spreadsheet is released.
