We now have an influx of Venezuelan children, of varying ages, accompanying their parents who are seeking employment in Trinidad and Tobago. Previously, we have had only adult females/males, some legal, some illegal, who were seeking employment.

The ongoing political conflict in Venezuela has led to this unexpected problem for Trinidad and Tobago schools for which there is a long list of local children awaiting placement. Some of our schools are awaiting urgent repairs from the coffers of a cash-strapped Ministry of Education. Some local children are already sharing accommodation within other schools.
